What is a balancing valve

The efficiency of the heating system largely depends on its configuration. Among the most important auxiliary components of the heating circuit, the balancing valve stands out in particular (it is also called a balancing valve and a crane). Thanks to it, it is possible to bring the heat transfer distribution to optimal values.

Purpose and construction

At the end of the installation of the heating system, its adjustment is carried out. The purpose of this important event is to bring the design parameters of heat transfer to real. It is best to use balancing valves for these purposes, the mechanical design of which ensures uninterrupted operation. Visually, they resemble traditional hand cranes, differing from them by smooth adjustment.

The design of the manual balancing valve includes the following details:

One fitting is installed before the regulating mechanism, the second after it. This arrangement allows you to calculate the final consumption of the coolant. There is a speed scale for adjustment on the spindle.
Automatic modifications are additionally equipped with pressure surge fixing cartridges. The function of the manual valve is assigned in this case to the preset capacity.
The design of models from different manufacturers may differ slightly. It is allowed to change the failed elements only after cutting off the section on which they are installed. For these purposes, a shut-off flanged valve is included in the strapping of the system.

The principle of operation

There is nothing complicated in the operation of the balancing valve. Adjustment of the coolant flow is carried out by changing the internal flow section. Thus, it is possible to increase or decrease the pressure level in the area of responsibility of the device.

After changing the internal lumen, the volume of the coolant entering the radiators changes. Balancing the heating circuit with the help of a valve, they achieve an increase in its efficiency. The optimal level of pressure and coolant consumption becomes the key to delivering the right amount of heat to each room. The presence of special fittings on the body of the balancing valve facilitates switching to the system of heat meters.
