How to choose a pump for crimping
In order to save money, most owners of apartments and houses are engaged in the independent arrangement of various engineering networks for the supply of water, coolant and even gas. Upon completion of installation work, the system needs to be tested to verify its tightness and ability to cope with working pressure. This procedure is called crimping.
Requirements for pressure pumps
The essence of the tests is to create and maintain an overpressure inside the system. Its gradual fall will be evidence of the presence of defects in the pipeline. After their elimination, the test is repeated again. As practice shows, most often the shut-off valves break down, which have to be changed regularly (the price of wedge flanged valves may vary).
For an adequate check, the crimping pressure must exceed the working pressure by 2-3 times. To create it, special pumps with a pressure gauge, a switching hose and a limiting valve are used. Pumps have certain requirements for power, productivity and tightness of internal connections. When choosing a specific model, the volume of the system and the frequency of tests are taken into account.
Classification of pumps for crimping
First of all, it is necessary to find out what specific pressure is required for testing.
On this basis , all pumps are divided into 4 groups:
- Less than 20 bar.
- Up to 50 60 bar.
- 100-120 bar.
- From 150 bar.
According to the type of drive , pressure pumps are:
- Manual. A lever reinforced with a piston is used to supply liquid to the pipeline. Manual pumps do not have very high performance.
- Electric. The function of the discharge device here is assigned to the electric motor. The performance of electric models is noticeably higher.
The liquid intake is carried out by the pressure pump from a special container made of steel or impact-resistant plastic. The quality of the tank and plunger housing directly affects the service life and efficiency of the pump. In models without a water intake tank, you have to look for third–party sources (for example, a centralized system). Basically, the crimping pumps are equipped with a self-priming mechanism, which simplifies their operation.
