Criteria for the selection of valves depending on the type of dampers

The gate valve belongs to the elements of the shut-off valves, therefore its main purpose is associated with blocking the flow of liquid.

What is the valve for?

With the help of this product, it is still possible to regulate the water flow, but you should not flirt with this, since manufacturers lay down only two correct positions of the device – fully closed or fully open. You will be able to install the flap in a different, intermediate position, but remember – this does not apply to the functional part and therefore will be considered as technically incorrect operation.

The main types of valves

When classifying any pipe fittings, several selection criteria should be taken into account, including the material of manufacture, functional purpose, throughput, method of fastening and installation. More specific differences are due to the design features of the valves, but regardless of the type of product, a damper installed perpendicular to it is used to stop the flow of liquid.

Depending on the design features of the dampers , the products are divided into the following types:

  1. The steel wedge gate valve is made in the form of a wedge. When closing, this element is lowered down and tightly pressed against special seats, which are placed relative to each other at a certain angle to ensure high tightness.
  2. Parallel, which consists of two disks installed parallel to each other. The same method is used to install saddles, and in order to increase the density of the fit, special wedge fungus is used.
  3. The gate is somewhat similar to the parallel one, but it consists of only one disk and one saddle. We can say that this is a cheaper construction, nevertheless fulfilling the duties assigned to it. It is operated in less demanding systems.
  4. Hose line. An elastic hose is installed in the valve. When the flap is lowered, it begins to press on the hose, which leads to an overlap of the flow. An excellent option in systems with an aggressive working environment, but small values of temperature and pressure.
