The main types of valves for water

The water valve performs two functions simultaneously – shut-off and control valves. With its help, partial or complete cessation of the flow of water or other liquid is carried out, which is possible due to a special shut-off component. The spindle, a movable mechanism, is screwed into the nut thread on the lid.

Thanks to this thread, the locking element can be installed in the desired position. The design features of the valve prevent the spontaneous movement of the locking mechanism due to strong water pressure. This property not only stops the flow of the working fluid, but also controls its pressure.

Classification of water valves

Currently, water valves of several separate categories are used: direct-flow, angular and through-flow. There is another criterion for classification – the method of sealing, according to which the valves are bellows and stuffing boxes. The third parameter is the type of thread: valves with a submerged or external thread. The shut-off element of the valve can be a diaphragm, called a membrane.

Numerous manufacturers produce two types of valves – ball and valve:

Features of Steel Water valves

Valves made of steel are externally different from brass ones. Instead of a handle, they are equipped with a more convenient wheel, which, when turned, can reduce, increase or stop the flow of liquid. Steel products have completely different operating temperature ranges and permissible pressure in comparison with cast iron, brass and bronze products.

The steel product is operated in various conditions, is characterized by high strength, reliability and long service life. High-alloy stainless steel is used in the manufacturing process. Flanged devices can be made of non-alloy steel. During installation, the outlet and inlet pipes are welded to the pipeline, which eliminates potential leaks.
