    The principle of operation of wedge valves

    The main elements of the valves are the body and the shutter. The shutter, rising to the "open" position, releases a cavity inside the pipeline for the passage of the working medium. Rotation takes place with the help of a spindle that moves the wedge gate to full contact with the angled seats of the housing.

    The lower part of the spindle is connected to the shutter, the upper part is connected to the control element (electric drive, steering wheel).

    The tightness of the system is maintained by means of an oil seal and a lid.

    Types of wedge gate valves

    • coupling;
    • welded.

    Coupling, flange fittings are easy to install in the pipeline system. The welded type is more reliable.

    Valves are also classified according to the type of shut-off unit:

    • rigid wedge gate – used for the production of large-sized shut-off valves, used in high-pressure communications;
    • a two–disc gate is created from two V-shaped locking elements fixed with a screed, fittings with a two-disc gate are cheaper due to low production costs;
    • the elastic gate has a V-shaped wedge, which is equipped with an elastic element that increases the tightness of the system.
